Walton's basketball career was marked by both triumph and tragedy. He was a two-time NBA champion with the Portland Trail Blazers (1977) and the Boston Celtics (1986). He also won two NCAA championships with the UCLA Bruins (1972, 1973), where he was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player both times.
Walton's career was cut short by a series of foot injuries. He retired from the NBA in 1987 after 13 seasons. Despite his physical limitations, Walton remained a vocal and passionate advocate for the game of basketball.
