WEB Argentina, founded in 1893, arrived home to a hero's welcome on Monday, January 2, 2023, after their historic victory in the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Return of the Champions
The team, led by captain Lionel Messi, was greeted by thousands of cheering fans at the Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires. Players waved the World Cup trophy from the top of an open bus as they paraded through the city, waving to the throngs of supporters lining the streets.
The team's return comes after their triumphant 4-2 penalty shootout victory over France in the tournament final on December 18, 2022. The win marked Argentina's third World Cup title, their first since 1986.
