Contest Details

The Saturday Evening Post magazine is pleased to announce the return of its annual Great American Fiction Contest.

For over a century, The Saturday Evening Post has been a home for great American fiction. We are proud to continue this tradition with our annual contest, which is open to both emerging and established authors.

The contest is free to enter, and the winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000 and publication in The Saturday Evening Post magazine.

Submission Guidelines

The submission period for the 2025 Great American Fiction Contest has passed.

The 2026 contest will open for submissions on January 1, 2025.

The submission period is from January 1 to July 1 each year.

• Stories must be original and unpublished.
• Stories must be between 1,500 and 5,000 words in length.
• Stories must be submitted in English.
• Authors may submit up to two stories.
